Opening Night

Despite a Winter that seemed like it may never end, a large crowd gathered to help Bear Ridge Speedway kick off its' 2011 season. The day started with the Annual Car Show at KDD NAPA of Bradford and concluded with nearly 100 cars in five divisions ready for action.

Owner Butch Elms and his crew did a great job trying to make the track as "raceable" as possible....not an easy feat considering the amount of snow on the ground just a couple weeks ago. Instead of heat races each division ran two segments with lowest combined point total being declared the Feature Event winner. Not what was originally scheduled, but this approach gave the drivers all an equal chance to succeed and the track the best opportunity to beat the impending storms. Seemed to work out well.....and the crowd seemed to enjoy the roar of the engines and the flying dirt once again!
