Alex enters his second year in the Tiger Sportsman Division with a new look and a ton of confidence! Although only a Junior in High School, Ferno has already packed 10 years of racing under his firesuit. Starting in go-karts and eventually graduating to a truck when he was 14, this kid is a pro! He is incredibly calm behind the wheel and saves his equipment when others may try ill-advised moves. Look for the Click It Or Ticket hot rod in Victory Lane at some point in 2011!

Alex looked great on Opening Day, nearly picking up his first Checkered Flag in his heat race. After holding off
the field until the last few laps, he settled for second and a trip straight into the Feature.

Fighting to stay in contention for a trophy with only a handful of laps remaining, Alex's rear corner
is lifted off the track....
Leading to a hard ride into the wall and a 22nd Place finish. No real structural damage....
and knowledge that this car is just plain fast! Expect to see Alex on the podium soon!

Class move by Team Ferno.....crew member Ethan Byrd graduated High School last week so the team
wrote a congratulatory message across the back bumper. Very cool....Congrats EB!!
Alex gets pinched during his heat race and shuffled back...his night got worse as he was wrecked in the Feature (again).
Can't this guy catch a break?!?

Alex got turned around on the frontstretch but luckily spun into the infield without any major damage (at least it didn't look too bad)
Ferno joined the field for the Feature Event....but the rain came before they could get it in. Double Features on Thursday!

After missing the last month, it was great to see Alex back on the track!
Thankfully this spin on the last lap didn't pick up any damage to the car and Ferno came home with a
17th place finish. More importantly....he made it all night without collecting any damage!

Alex competed this week with a heavy heart as crew member and long-time family friend George "J.R." Byrd
had lost his battle with personal demons just a couple days before. J.R. was a great guy....and someone
who believed in Alex enough to give his time freely to help him succeed. He will be missed....not only by
Ferno and his team...but by everyone who ever had the pleasure of hearing him laugh. RIP JR!!!
Alex drove his best race of the season....he was credited with a 14th place finish
I am not a religious person - and there are likely a million explanations for this - but this is the ONLY photo
I have taken at Thunder Road in two seasons that has this ball of light....something tells me that
JR was watching over his friend!

When the flagger threw the white a lap early....and then threw it again next time around....a number
of cars let off thinking the race was over. Alex lost 4-5 spots thanks to another issue with
throwing the flags on the correct laps.
