Ferguson Waterworks

In response to the recent devastation caused by last month's flood, Thunder Road reached out a hand of support to the residents of Barre to thank them for years of support from the community. Anyone displaying a valid identification carrying a Barre address was admitted free (and Al's French Fries, operators of the concessions at the track for TONS of years, threw in a free hot dog and soda for those same folks. Much appreciated offer, which I wish would have packed the stands. But a move from last Sunday due to rain made this the opening Thursday night of the season....and it was in competition with local graduations, cutting down the crowd.

The weather was perfect...the action was non-stop and the night ended with more than one surprise podium grabber!

Mike "Beetle" Bailey grabbed the top spot in the Late Model Sportsman Feature....

he was followed across the line by Brett Wheeler (in black) and Ricky Roberts.

The Tiger Sportsman Division saw a 1st time winner when Tucker Williams led George May (in blue)

and Brendan Moodie to the Checkers

The closest finish of the night came in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks when Ron Gabaree

barely held off birthday boy Jamie Davis (in black). Five time Feature Event winner last season,

Tim Campbell, picked up his first podium of the year finishing third.

In the Junkyard Warriors Kevin Wheatley (with white stripe) survived to take home his

second win of the year with Fred Schroeder second and Jason Woodard (not pictured) in third.
